Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

HEAP is to assist eligible households with a one-time credit toward payment of utility or heating costs.  You must either pay directly for heating cost or must pay rent that includes heating costs.  If you live in subsidized housing, you must pay heating costs separately from your rent.  No resource or asset limit. HEAP closes April 15, 2011.

Weatherization Assistance Program

Weatherization Services reduces the amount of energy required to heat homes and provide hot water.  The majority of homes in New York State were built when energy was relatively  inexpensive.  These homes are significantly more costly to heat than a newer energy-efficient home.

What services are included?   

*        weatherstripping and caulking around doors and windows

*        cleaning, testing, repairs or replacement of heating systems

*        replacement or repair of storm windows   

*        replacement or repair of broken windows and/or outside doors   

*        the addition of insulation to walls or ceilings; and   

*        minor repairs, as needed, to ensure maximum efficiency from the weatherization services performed.

Emergency repairs - septic systems, roofs, windows, doors.
